Love and Lists is the first book in the Chocolate Lovers spinoff - Chocoholics: The foul-mouthed offspring tell their stories.Review:
Twenty-five-year-old Gavin Ellis has always had the love and support of his family ever since he was a little boy and couldn't stop talking about his penis. He's also always had their unsolicited advice and uncanny knack of embarrassing him at all costs. Now that he's an adult and trying to convince the love of his life to love him back, things haven't changed very much from when he was younger.
When Gavin's best friend Tyler suggests he make a to-do list of items that will ensure he wins the girl, Gavin is one-hundred-percent on board: after a few six packs.
After puking in the shrubs, a bad experience with Viagra, a Sex-Ed course gone wrong, and a slew of other mishaps courtesy of his family and friends, Gavin is pretty sure this list will be the death of him.
Sometimes, trying to make someone love you with a list isn't always the best idea. Especially when "Show her your penis" is the first "to-do" item...
Love and Lists is about Gavin and initially it was hard to picture him as a grown up man when all we've read about is his 5 yr old self who had a dirty mouth and loved to talk about his privates in detail. But in a way, the matured (questionable :D) Gavin reminded me a lot of Drew and as you know, Drew was my favorite character in Chocolate Lovers series, so naturally I fell in love with Gavin after the initially age hesitation went away. He was so funny (like any Tara's character), a little silly which added humor to the story, but I was surprised how sexy and swoony he turned out to be. That usually doesn't happen with funny guys, for some reason they never cross into the sultry zone and always remain the awkward yet cute love interest, but boy oh boy, did Gavin made me wish I was Charlotte? After that scene in the bar, I was a goner! The story opened up with Gavin making a list of how to get Charlotte fall in love with him and if that name sounded familiar, that's because it was! Charlotte is Liz and Jim's eldest daughter and was nothing like her mom (Thank God for that!), I can handle only one crazy person in a book. Charlotte was a very straight forward, no bullshit kind of a girl and I loved her instantly. She and Gavin were the meant-to-be couple and even though their story felt a little fast paced for my liking, it didn't bother me that much because it was highly entertaining.
Love and Lists was a mind blowing read! It started at a high note and ended at same level; if you want to have a good time, this should be your go-to book. Or any other Tara Sivec reads. They are just that good! But again, they are not for everyone. Read the premises and if you find it offensive or not your type, then move on. But if that little tease worked for you and left you wanting more, then hit the buy button and one click it. You will not regret it!!!
Tara Sivec is a best selling author, wife, mom, chauffeur, cheerleading coach, soccer coach, babysitter, short-order cook, genius and albino squirrel hunter. She lives in Ohio with her husband and two kids. In her spare time she likes to read, write and cover things in chocolate. Most of her material comes from real life experiences with family and friends. Lucky for them, the names have been changed to protect the innocent (aka, drunk).
Tara also writes under the pen name T.E. Sivec where she can be serious, suspenseful and not at all funny.
